"ESOF is not just about science. We also love the arts and, indeed, support them," says Euroscience President Jean-Patrick Connerade and invites all ESOF2006 participants and organisers to submit a poem in English, German or French about a subject related to any one of the scientific sessions or outreach activities. An awarded poet himself, Mr. Connerade initiated the Poetry Competition, which is kindly supported by the Andrea von Braun Stiftung.

Depending on the language they have selected, candidates may drop their poems into the respective letter box placed at the registration desk no later than noon on Monday, July 17th 2006. 14 lines or verses are enough to enter the competition and perhaps even win one of the three prizes á €300 (one for every language), which are linked to participation in ESOF2008 in Barcelona. Prominent scientists and artists, such as French poets Chaunes and Sylvoisal (authors of 'La Furie Française') and the French actress Sophie Daull, will comprise the three juries and select the winners.

"Seek inspiration in the programme of the Euroscience Open Forum 2006 and start writing even before you reach Munich!", urges Mr. Connerade and appeals to the artist within every ESOF2006 participant.
