A successful end for the Euroscience Open Forum 2006 (19.07.2006)
The Euroscience Open Forum 2006 (ESOF2006) ended on 19 July in Munich. During a Closing Ceremony, the ESOF2006 chairman Wolfgang Heckl passed the flame to D Enric Banda an Dr. Ingrid Wünning, both co-chairs of ESOF2008.
The conference attracted over 2100 participants from 58 countries, among them 485 journalists. ESOF2006 welcomed delegations and participants from the United States, Japan and China. Central and Eastern Europe was equally well represented.
Topics such as ageing, ethics in brain research, as well as terrorism and international security attracted large audiences. Young scientists attended the newly introduced event 'Pretzel with the Prof' in the Science Biergarten and exchanged thoughts and ideas with the plenary lecturers.
The ESOF2006 Outreach Activities, jointly taking place with the Wissenschaftssommer, can be visited at the Marienhof and the Altes Rathaus until Friday, 21 July 2006.
